Meet Some of Our Licensed Child Caregivers

Hi, I'm Jessica. I live in Belleville north of 401. I am the mother of two beautiful children and I have over 7 years of experience working with children. I provide healthy homemade meals and a place for children to have fun, explore,  and learn to care for each other. We learn through lots of pretend play, craft/art and sensory activities, books, puzzles, blocks, outdoor play, etc...

I love caring for children and teaching them new things!

Edna lives in the east end of Belleville. She has been providing care for children for many years and joined Family Space in 2011. Edna has completed a good portion of her ECE which she hopes to finish in the near future. Edna has a wonderful program for the children with her days focusing on games, water play, life size board games, and lots of crafts. She loves outdoor play with the children and has the backyard to prove it.

Her yard is filled with slides, sandboxes, cars and trucks, swings, bicycles and lots of balls. Edna can often be found reading to the children in her wonderful playroom or sitting and playing with the children as they learn important pre-kindergarten skills. Edna often takes the children on field trips to different parks in the area, apple orchards, the local vet's and firefighters, and sometimes ventures to the Family Space Early Learning playgroups.. While Edna does lots of structured activities, she most often follows the ideas of the children. They have so many good ideas.

Hello, my name is Evelyn. I am a proud mother of three amazing children along with a background in healthcare and childcare. I recently decided to focus my career on my home based childcare through Family Space. I understand as a parent how difficult it is to balance commitments and responsibilities in our lives. It is my goal to ensure a fun, happy and adventurous environment that will enrich a child while putting a parent's mind at ease. Through daily play, learning activities and explorations we will learn and grow together. I look forward to providing children with the best quality care.

Hello, my name is Julie. I am a proud mother of three amazing children, two boys and one girl and recently became a Nana to a beautiful little girl. I live on the east side of Trenton in a spacious house with a separate playroom with lots of natural light and a large backyard to explore.

DAWN'S BIO:
I started my daycare in 1994 after my husband and I both lost our jobs (due to
downsizing and restructuring) a week apart. I had wanted to stay home with our children
for a long time, but still earn some type of income. Our location to several schools and
parks made providing childcare a logical choice.
I had joined the Girl Guides as a youngster and loved the outdoor part of the program.
Leading, instructing, supervising other children and being responsible for their safety and
care were all leamed at at early age through Guiding. Plus I have been taking first aid
and CPR since an early age.
This is why, as much as possible, our day is spent outside being a part of our natural
surroundings. My belief is we need to be connected with nature in order to be a wellrounded
individual.
We do play inside as well, with a wide assortment of toys and yes, even the occasional
TV (singing and dancing).
The children are encouraged to use their imagination whenever and wherever possible. I
am constantly amazedwhat they come up with on their own.
They are all taught to use their manners and be considerate of others which teaches them
respect and empathy for others. I am a firm believer that everyone should take
responsibility for their actions and even at an early age they need to learn how their
actions impact other people.
I encourage an open communication between parents and myself. Any questions
regarding their child/ren are addressed as quickly as possible. If I don't have the answer
myself,I have Family Space advisors available to help.

Elida is originally from British Columbia. She moved her family to Belleville in 2010. She is a single mother of 3 children. Being brought up in a home that provided child care , it was a natural transition to open her home to other children. Elida has recently moved to the Parkdale area and has tripled her backyard space. She plans on making the space more of a natural environment for better exploration.

Elida attends workshops and keeps up with the emergent curriculum of children developing a sense of self as they learn holistically, at their own individual pace. The daily schedule can always be adjusted to the level of fun they are having. Great friendships are grown in her daycare.

Elida feels child care is a fascinating and rewarding occupation. She is proud to pass on the empathy and grounding she gained from being raised in a daycare home to her own children. The children past and present hold a deep bond to her and her family.

My name is Amanda and I am the childcare provider at Little Penguins daycare. I have many years of experience with children of all ages. Hi I am Rhonda and I live just east of Frankford. I have my diploma in E.C.E. with 14 years experience as well as a diploma in D.S.W. with 13 years experience. I provide a warm, welcoming and safe environment for all ages of children to learn, explore and grow. I live in a country setting with lots of outdoor activities. I provide an environment for children to learn their ABC's and 123's as well as a great place for children to use their imagination.

Hi I'm Katrina...my passion for working with children has drawn me to family space for many years starting in 2004. After completing my diploma in Early Childhood Education and Developmental Service Worker I greatly enjoyed working as an Early years Assistant and a Resource Consultant. In 2009 I returned to school to complete my Bachelor of Education and began teaching locally in 2013. After recently having my second child and being a busy mom of two under 3 I decided to return to family space as a home child care provider. I love that I can be home to help guide, foster and encourage my own children's well being and learning, while doing the same for the other children who in my care.
Our play space is designed for play based learning...guided by the children's curiosity, Interested and explorations. I have a large country lot, just north east of Belleville and we love getting out into the community visiting play groups, the Frink centre, parks and much more. We create a sense belonging and a warmth that makes your heart smile.

Hi my name is Tracey I am a mother of two beautiful girls and a step mom to three more great kids. I have recently decided to make a career change to be at home for my children. With this opportunity I would available to help others out by providing care for other children helping them learn, play and have fun. I enjoy singing and dancing with my own. I am licensed through family space and have my first aid. I will be available starting Feb. 20/18 Monday through Friday 7-530.

Hi, I'm Jane. I live in Belleville, near the Bayview Mall.
I am the mother of two. Son is grown and our daughter is about graduate high school.

I love children. I come from a big family and although I didn't have a big family, I always wanted more children.
So I decided to open my in-home daycare,  Belleville Tiny Tots, so I get my baby fill, and still have all of the amazing times with them, but then at the end of the day, they go home.

I have been open since July 2013 and I love everyday!

We are a play based enviroment which fosters the children's independance, self esteem, fine and gross motor skills. We love exploring our community. We love to do trips to various parks, playgroups and library.
Everyday, is a new exciting adventure!

I am currently in the Montrose subdivision; a convenient location between Trenton and Belleville
(minutes to the 401, and CFB Trenton). Having been raised in this neighborhood, myself; my family
came back to take advantage of the close knit community. My own children are able to enjoy
activities, such as: bike rides, walks to the park, and having playmates close by in a safe neighborhood.
Within my daycare, I like to focus on each child gaining a sense of independence, at their greatest
potential. I strongly believe in inclusion, and encourage the children to make a place for everyone
during group activities. We like to be silly, sing songs, create, imagine, play games, and are
encouraged to help eachother out, and pick up after ourselves. We are a bit of a loud group at times,
having so much fun! My group of children range from 6 months old to 10 years old.
I am compassionate, and easy going. I encourage the presence of diversity and acceptance in my life. I also strive to inspire others to do the same.

Christy has combined two of her life's passions. Children and photography. Interacting, connecting and having fun with children is something that comes naturally. Spending her days photographing kids explore is a magical experience and it is a real pleasure to be surrounded by amazing little people all day. With a huge variety of open ended toys and materials throughout the space, the opportunity for fun, engaging and educational play possibilities are endless.  Every child can show off their individuality and creativity through many of the artistic and messy play activities and with tools accessible for innovative and imaginative creations. Living on the south-west side of Belleville gives the chance to go for walks on the path and play at the park as well. On the days at home the fully fenced back yard allows children free play with the mud kitchen, play house ,swing set, art easel and chalkboard.

Hello, my name is Kayla and I am a PSW by trade. I am a mother to a 2 year old little girl. I am a knitter and learning to sew. I am a baker, I like to read and learn new skills. I love camping, even though I hardly ever get to do that anymore. I am a patient; compassionate person who believes every person deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. I take care of people for a living and now I want to be able to take care of children.

At Ducklings Daycare the children are encouraged to grow as individuals and build healthy relationship with others. The children are encouraged to create, imagine and play. Each day is filled with a schedule that includes free play for developing their imagination and communication skills with others. Singing, story-time and group play is a big thing at Ducklings because it helps develop children’s language skills and helps build self-esteem. There is a big back yard to run and have fun in. Most days we will be going for walks to the parks located around town or the trails to explore. Healthy food will be served with meal plan posted for parents to see.

Hello!  My name is Sarah Drouillard.  I have over 8 years of experience working with children, ages ranging from newborn-12 years old, in a variety of settings.  I graduated from the Developmental Services Worker program at Loyalist College and continued to further my education in child learning and development by also completing the Early Childhood Education program.

With my vast experience assisting and teaching children, I felt most drawn to providing childcare in a home setting.  Being a childcare provider, registered with Family Space, I get to do what I enjoy most which is providing children with a caring environment that fosters growth through exploration, discovery and positive learning experiences.  I enjoy daily activities such as playing outside, arts and crafts, reading and creative play.

Working in the childcare field is incredibly rewarding and fulfilling for me.  I am honoured to be able to take care of children and be a part of shaping their futures and helping them achieve some of their first milestones in life.  I have a passion in this field of work and continue to strive in providing positive and rich learning experience for all children.

Hi, I’m Nicole MacDonald! I have been a caregiver with Family Space since 2015. I live in the West end of Belleville with my husband and 3 year old daughter. We pride ourselves on making our daycare kids feel like they are part of the family, including them in everything we do with a focus on what they love to do. We have a big back yard and love spending time outside playing and exploring. Our house is small so we enjoy time outside as well as focusing on loose parts play. We also recognize how it is for families to find quality care for their children at awkward hours so we do offer extended hours and are willing to work with families to accommodate their needs, including providing overnight care. You are in the right place when looking for daycare through Family Space!!

Perla

We do coloring, puzzles, reading, table toys, board games dancing and more while I provide quality care for your child. I have a park close to my house where I often take the children in my care to play. My house is not just a house it is a home where your child will be filled with love and care.

Hello, my name is Jill and I have been a home child care provider for 11 years. I have experience with children of all ages. I also hold a DSW and SSW diploma.

My decision to start a home daycare was when my son was born, i wanted to be able to watch him grow and for him to have friends along his journey as well. So for me it was the best of both worlds.

At Jillys house my littles are apart of our family, their home away from home !

My days are filled with routine, structure and even some crazy times. We dance and sing, we practice our ABC's and 123's. Our colours and shapes are also great!

I provide healthy snacks and meals, and we're always trying new things.

We are outside daily and enjoy our adventures.

"The biggest reward everyday is the smiles and belly laughs from my little people".

I have over 18 years of experience within local daycare Centers, Family Space Programs, Early Years Centers, Stirling Public School & Licensed Home Childcare. I am a huge advocate for Licensed Home Childcare and have strong community involvement and serve on Family Space Quinte Inc.  Board of Directors.

I value professional development and learning as an opportunity to engage with my community and peers. It helps me to deepen my own practice and enrich the quality of experiences I offer the children and families in my care.

I hold a strong view that children are capable, competent, and curious about the world around them and this guides the way in which I design my environment, experiences and interactions with the children.

Through play experiences and my guidance as a Registered Early Childhood Educator, your child will be exposed to experiences that foster his/her curiosity, independence, fine motor skills, self esteem, social skills, and physical activities that develop gross motor skills.

I offer an environment that is rich in resources and loose parts for your child to play and learn. An environment that invites them to explore, collaborate, reflect and communicate using a wide range of materials.  I focus on the learning that happens through play and use play as the means to teach and foster development.  I am located in the Stirling area on a quiet country road near Hwy 62.  I’m 10 minutes from Belleville.  I serve families in Stirling, Tweed, Foxboro and surrounding areas.  I have a spacious home on 2 acres of land, offering a newly renovated main floor playroom, bathroom and separate sleeping/nap area.
