Meet Some of Our Licensed Child Caregivers

Edna lives in the east end of Belleville. She has been providing care for children for many years and joined Family Space in 2011. Edna has completed a good portion of her ECE which she hopes to finish in the near future. Edna has a wonderful program for the children with her days focusing on games, water play, life size board games, and lots of crafts. She loves outdoor play with the children and has the backyard to prove it.

Her yard is filled with slides, sandboxes, cars and trucks, swings, bicycles and lots of balls. Edna can often be found reading to the children in her wonderful playroom or sitting and playing with the children as they learn important pre-kindergarten skills. Edna often takes the children on field trips to different parks in the area, apple orchards, the local vet's and firefighters, and sometimes ventures to the Family Space Early Learning playgroups.. While Edna does lots of structured activities, she most often follows the ideas of the children. They have so many good ideas.

Elida and her family moved to Ontario from British Columbia a few years ago and she now lives in the east end of Belleville. Elida grew up with her mother providing daycare to young children. She believes that there are benefits to both the caregiver and the parents in home child care. The children experience well rounded growth, and the parents and caregivers develop real and lasting relationships.

In-between the birth of her 2nd and 3rd child, Elida did full time care for a few children until other family commitments limited her time. It was a natural fit for her to return to child care again and registered with Family Space. In the summer, Elida can usually be found playing with the children with the wide variety of equipment available in her backyard, or in a part for their daily outing.

Elida provides various crafts and art activities to promote fine motor skills and encourages a lot of “pretend” play with costumes and kitchen items in her newly renovated child friendly areas. At meal time she is always trying new ways to introduce new food items in the meal to ensure even the pickiest eater gets a nutritious meal or snack.

Families who visit her home comment on the warm and safe feeling they get and how at ease their children are right away. Elida feels that child care is a fascinating occupation and the rewards of working with children greatly surpass any of the trials and tribulations that she may encounter.

Perla

My name is Perla. I am a mother of three children 23, 21, and 13 years old.
I have been providing childcare through Family Space for the past 6 years.
We do coloring, puzzles, reading, table toys, board games dancing and more while I provide quality care for your child. I have a park close to my house where I often take the children in my care to play. My house is not just a house it is a home where your child will be filled with love and care.

I have been a home day care provider for 6 years. My day is full of routine and structure with many different activities. We sing, dance, practice our ABC's and 123's during our busy day. I make my home a place where all children feel like they belong in "their home away from home."

"The biggest reward every day is the smiles from my little people."

Nicole has a long relationship with Family Space starting back in 2000 when she began as a placement student. She joined Family Space in July 2012 to provide Licensed Home Child Care just outside of Stirling.

Nicole is highly inquisitive, creative and resourceful. Licensed Home Child Care is truly her passion and it excites her. Nicole provides play based child care for children to explore their curiosity through play. Play teaches children how to make friends, problem solve, share, how to express themselves, how to enjoy the world around them, and how to recognize letters and numbers.

Nicole is a registered Early Childhood Educator providing care in the Stirling area. Her play space is child focused and includes an environment rich in resources for children to play and learn. Nicole has a large home on 2 acres of land offering a media room, art/sensory area, manipulative/fine motor area, reading area, drama room, climbers, water/sand table and ride on toys outside for gross motor play and a separate sleeping area. There is something for everyone.

Care is available 7:30am - 5:30 pm Monday - Friday.
Nicole is always willing for children to share their ideas so we can explore them and create opportunities for learning

Hi, I'm Rhonda and I live just east of Frankford. I provide a warm, welcoming and safe environment for all ages of children to learn, explore and grow. I live on a large country lot with space for lots of outdoor activities to take place and for children to explore the nature around us. I provide an environment for children to learn their ABC's, 123's as well as a great place for children to use their imagination.

I have an ECE Diploma (Early Childhood Education), as well as a DSW Diploma (Developmental Services Worker). I have worked in both a day care centre as well as within the local school board.

Hi, I'm Dawn. I live in the Hillcrest area and have been providing child care with Family Space for nearly 20 years. Throughout the day the children and I like to go for walks, visit interesting places, ride cars in the fully fenced backyard, toboggan on the gentle hill in the park behind my house, read stories, practice counting, learn our colours and manners, draw pictures, and work on crafts. I like a nice balance between inside and outside activities. There is so much to learn from the world around us.
